Porto Alegre
Porto Alegre is a city in southern Brazil, the capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, situated on Lagoa dos Patos. Home to over 3 million residents, it is an important industrial and cultural hub. Renowned for churrasco and chimarrão, it serves as the center of gaúcho culture. Porto Alegre hosted the first World Social Forum and is famous for its participatory budget. The climate is subtropical, and the best time to visit is spring and autumn, when temperatures are pleasant. The city is also home to the rival football clubs Grêmio and Internacional.
